Where were you born and raised?:
Born up in Lismore, and have been in Canberra since I was 6.
How long have you been bartending?:
Casually for about 3 years, but I got serious about it about 6 months ago.
Where was your first bar job?:
Working at B-Bar back when I was 20, taught me a lot of what not to do behind the bar. Which is always a plus in a way.
What’s your favourite cocktail to drink or make?:
To make – Anything stirred down and served up is great, or the theatrics behind a Zombie is always a good way to make people smile. To drink – Sazerac, Negroni, Ramos gin fizz.
You’ve just finished a super hectic shift and it’s finally time to sit down, what drink to you reach for?:
shot of rum and a Matsos alcoholic ginger beer. Nothing beats the post work boiler maker.
Which song played by our resident deejays is guaranteed to make you boogie behind the bar and forget you’re actually at work?:
I’ve been known to dance on the bar to N**as in Paris by Jay-Z and Kanye, Call Me Maybe (tacky I know) will cause me to get my swerve on.
Most triumphant moment behind the bar?:
Hasn’t been one yet… Sigh.
Have you got a funny/irritating customer moment?:
One quiet Tuesday a few months ago I had a first date come in. The gentleman proceeded to saunter up to the bar and casually order two drinks (gin and tonic and a vodka lime and soda I recall). The lady then told me to cancel the vodka lime soda and get her a glass of vino. The gentleman looked pretty defeated after that, which I had a little chuckle about later. Good on him for trying though.
When you’re not behind the bar, where can we find you?:
In the kitchen coming up with quirky ingredients to add to our drinks. Or in bed asleep.
Drinking, cooking, travelling, eating good food. Just the general leisure activities.
If you could have a drink with anyone in the world (dead or alive) who would it be?:
Hunter S. Thompson at Tiki Ti in L.A. Fascinating character and a proper booze hound too.
Favourite colour?: Blue
Where would you like to see yourself in 10 years time?:
Owning my own venue somewhere and having a hell of a good time doing it.
